Operation Highwaymen, the drug bust in Prince William County this week, has netted 54 suspects to date. On Wednesday, July 12, Dylan Moore, director of photography for the News & Messenger, took multiple photographs from various scenes and the processing center. Two of the photos are posted below. Montoya’s arrival hasn’t opened floodgates

Juan Pablo Montoya is headed to NASCAR, an issue that’s been bandied about since the announcement at Chicagoland over the weekend.
It’s not so much about Montoya, who was a smash hit in the North American open-wheel circuits and has seven wins in 85 starts in ultra-competitive Formula 1. The talk centered more around NASCAR, and what it means to have a driver like Montoya on board.

Correction 07/13/06: A previous version of this story incorrectly reported the number of people arrested. Our initial report incorrectly stated that 60 people were arrested.
3:01 p.m. At least five law enforcement agencies are bearing down on Woodbridge this afternoon as they wrap up a major drug, gun and stolen property bust, said officials.
Prince William County police and other agencies arrested at least 40 people since Tuesday night in an 18-month the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms investigation, said Mike Campbell, ATF spokesman.
Helicopters are circling Woodbridge this afternoon looking for one person who ran away from police, said Officer John Bogert, Prince William police spokesman.
Back from the Northwest

Though I can’t really say I’m thrilled to be back from vacation — who is? — I kept brief tabs on racing while visiting family in the Northwest. (Though that’s not always an easy assignment, as NASCAR is not the presence in Seattle and Portland that it is along the eastern seaboard.)
What’s interesting — at least to me, a member of the media — was the play it got. The Oregonian, the main paper in Portland that is regarded as the state’s paper of record, had a write-up on the Chicagoland Cup race that was part of its briefs section.
