Qualifying well will be critical at Talladega

Though restrictor-plate races have become known for their spectacular crashes — “The Big One” — Chase contenders will need to focus on qualifying to avoid that very situation.
This weekend, they’ll be at Talladega, and qualifying will be of the utmost importance.

When I was a junior in high school, I had four wispy strands of hair on my chin.
I thought I had become a man and that I would have to start shaving. Start wearing robes. Start walking around the house with a pipe in my mouth. Start saying things like “smashing!” when I really liked something.

We’ve maintained throughout the season that Jimmie Johnson had as good a shot at a title anyone, provided there were no unforeseen mechanical breakdowns, wrecks, etc.
Perhaps we should have included plain old bad luck in that scenario, too.
