Sponsorship creativity
Brian Hunsicker
Nov 03, 2006
An interesting phenomenon, and one that I’m sure will be repeated: Brian Vickers’ team, sponsored by GMAC, has announced that one of its affiliates will be part of the paint scheme this weekend at Texas. The affiliate happens to be in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, so that’s pretty convenient.
As we’ve said many times before, sponsorship money makes the world go round. We’ve seen that before, where the No. 99 – sponsored by Office Depot – had one of its small-business customers appear on Carl Edwards’ ride last year.
Robby Gordon busted (by NASCAR)

Well, a culprit was found, and it was the same person that many expected.
NASCAR announced a pretty hefty fine for Robby Gordon on Tuesday for a violation of rule 12-4-N: intentionally causing a caution.

Gordon — hit with a double whammy because he’s the driver and owner — was fined $15,000 and docked 50 driver points and 50 owner points. Neither will have a great impact on his spot in the standings.
