TNT drops the ball at Pocono

I’ll officially eat my words in a minute. But first…

What was TNT thinking?

The race, as a whole, went smoothly for the network’s first telecast of the season. Kyle Petty, as we expected, was solid as an analyst and Bill Weber kept from getting on our nerves (though we admit the season is still young).

Kurt Busch: Paris parallel?
Brian Hunsicker
Jun 08, 2007

Back after going up and back from Newport News. (If you have to drive on I-64 east of I-95 on any consistent basis, you have my deepest sympathies.)

The music on XM was unexpectedly bad. I listened to a string of songs maybe twice the whole trip. It was always good tune, crappy tune, flip the channel, rinse/lather/repeat. Eventually, I got fed up with it and turned on CNN. Perhaps you’ve heard the big news on there today: Paris Hilton is back in the slammer.

To recap: She got busted, violated parole twice and found herself in jail. But she was released after only three days; the sheriff’s department sent her home because of an unspecified “medical condition.” Today, a judge ordered her back in court to hammer the whole thing out, and he sent Hilton back to jail.

There seems to be a parallel here. We’re looking at you, Kurt Busch.

It’s not always easy digging around Web sites. Sure, we make nifty navigation bars and search boxes, but sometimes features are hard to find if they’re not linked from the homepage.

So I’ve listed our local news and sports blog on Technorati, a hefty online resource for locating blogs.

Cup drivers dish the dirt, on-track

It’s always fun to see drivers step out of their comfort zone, even if it is just a little bit.

Last night’s Nextel Prelude to a Dream race was held at Eldora Speedway in Ohio, and featured a range of drivers from across several disciplines.

Kurt Busch to be suspended?
Brian Hunsicker
Jun 06, 2007

Jayski is reporting that Kurt Busch could miss Sunday’s race at Pocono after his run-in(s) with Tony Stewart on Monday at Dover (seventh item).

There’s no official word yet, but it wouldn’t be a surprising development.

If you didn’t catch the highlight, Stewart and Busch were racing hard for several laps. Busch (right, last month in happier times with the No. 20 crew) got by Stewart, tried to move in front of him but didn’t have quite enough clearance. Instead of lifting off the gas, Stewart kept going and wrecked both: Busch spun and Stewart pancaked the wall.
